Florida homeowners can conserve water and eliminate pesticides and fertilizers by going native for their lawns. "Native plants offer breeding grounds for other creatures and also helps Florida to keep looking like Florida, not North Carolina," said David Schroeder of Evolving Landscapes. Schroeder favors butterfly gardens and vegetable beds over the traditional expanse of green lawns.
