New report details lack of diversity at ad shops

A new report from the N.A.A.C.P. and lawyer Cyrus Mehri that details minority hiring, promotion and compensation practices within the ad industry is the cornerstone of a new effort to boost diversity within the field, according to this article. Among the key findings of "Research Perspectives on Race and Employment in the Advertising Industry" is that in 2008 just 5.3% of agency managers and professionals were black. Nancy Hill, president and CEO of the 4A's, said: "The numbers speak for themselves. It's disappointing and discouraging. More has to be done."
