Obama wants scientist at NASA, sources say

Transition sources say President-elect Barack Obama intends to name a new NASA chief before Inauguration Day, and Charles Kennel, who previously ran the agency's Earth science division and currently chairs the National Academy of Science's Space Studies Board, has emerged as a contender. Obama is looking for a distinguished scientist to head the space agency, sources say, similar to his picks for energy secretary and science adviser.
