Recession presents global retailers with strategic options

The global economic slowdown will force some retailers to change their expansion strategies. "The retailers could take two different approaches to deal with the recession in their home markets. Either they would switch their investments to emerging markets for growth, or they could withdraw from the international markets where they are not doing well and bring back management to the home market," said John Dawson, an international expert on innovations in the retail sector.
