Where to find vision that inspires

The leadership trait that followers value most, second only to "honesty," is vision -- the ability to imagine an exciting future and share it. But a lot of leaders believe the vision should be their own prophesy. Wrong! Followers want a vision that reflects their own hopes. "As counterintuitive as it might seem, then, the best way to lead people into the future is to connect with them deeply in the present," leadership scholars James Kouzes and Barry Posner say.
