Analysts expect M&A in health sector to increase in 2010

Pharmaceutical firms, medical-device makers, health information technology companies and other businesses in the health sector are expected to see an increase in mergers and acquisitions this year as the debate on health care reform nears resolution, analysts predicted. "With health reform behind us, the capital markets easing, cash available at large [corporations] and private-equity funds, I expect to see a significant increase in activity this year," said Steven Elek III of PricewaterhouseCoopers.
