England's teacher-observation rules are criticised

England's conservative leaders are calling for increased scrutiny over teaching and more power for head teachers to dismiss ineffective teachers. Currently, head teachers are allowed to observe teachers for only three hours each school year, but shadow schools secretary Michael Gove says that restrictions should be removed to improve teaching. "The whole point of teaching should be an open and collaborative process, with those who have experience helping those who are learning to improve their craft," he said.
