Funding plan for $2.3B BART expansion project moves to Congress

A $900 million funding plan for the $2.3 billion first phase of expanding BART service to California's Silicon Valley has been delivered to Congress, according to Brandi Childress, Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority spokeswoman. The proposal will be reviewed within 60 days, and Congress is expected to approve it. Work on the extended line, track and stations will create about 5,500 construction jobs.
