Tegra 3 processor reduces backlighting, saving battery life

The new Tegra 3 processor has the capability to reduce the backlighting required in mobile devices, helping extend battery life, Nvidia disclosed at the International Consumer Electronics Show. The processor also boasts a low-power core that can take over from the four main processing cores in the chip and doesn't require a discrete controller for touch-screen input processing, according to the company.
