Calif. wind farm is first to send power on new transmission line

Ninety-four of the 112 wind turbines in Pattern Energy Group's Ocotillo wind project in California became operational in December, making the 265-megawatt facility the first to send electricity through the Sunrise Powerlink transmission line, Pattern Energy said. The remaining turbines are due for installation in the spring, the company said. Once fully functioning, the facility is expected to generate enough power to supply about 100,000 households.
