County to discuss cooling-system plan for new Turkey Point reactors

Commissioners from Miami-Dade County, Fla., will hold discussions today regarding Florida Power & Light's plan to install cooling systems for two proposed reactors at its Turkey Point nuclear plant in the county. Under the plan, FPL intends to consume as much as 90 million gallons of wastewater daily for cooling and establish a fleet of wells to extract groundwater from beneath Biscayne Bay for backup.
