Internet companies should give users more control over data, EU says

Lawmakers in the EU want Facebook, Google and other Internet companies to give their users greater control over how their personal data is used, this article notes. "Users must be informed about what happens with their data," said Jan Philipp Albrecht, a member of the European Parliament. "And they must be able to consciously agree to data processing -- or reject it." The proposals will be considered by the parliament, the European Commission and EU member countries.
