Refiners take opposing views on proposed end of U.S. oil export ban

The U.S. refining industry is torn on the growing push to lift the ban on U.S. oil exports. Tesoro and Marathon Petroleum have joined the call to lift prohibitions on oil exports, but other refiners, such as Valero Energy, have expressed opposition to the proposal, saying it could hurt their business and spike the costs of fuel at the pump. The American Fuel and Petrochemical Manufacturers recognized the split, saying, "There may be a couple of independent refiners who are a little more reticent about lifting the ban on exports."
