FCC approves Verizon asset sale to FairPoint

The FCC gave its stamp of approval on Verizon Communications' proposed deal to sell wireline assets in Vermont, Maine and New Hampshire to FairPoint Communications. The deal is valued at $2.7 billion and, according to FairPoint, should close before the end of the first quarter.
