SUPERVALU appoints VP for new post

SUPERVALU has chosen John Hanlin to be vice president of food safety, a new position in the company. Hanlin, a former director of microbiology and thermal process for General Mills, will oversee food-safety and quality-assurance programs across the company's merchandising, distribution and retail operations. "The integrity of our food supply chain has always been of the utmost importance, and the creation of this position will help SUPERVALU put a fine point on it," Chairman and CEO Jeff Noddle said.
