Analysis: Los Angeles magnet schools outperform charters

A Los Angeles Times analysis of 2008-09 school-year data found that charter-school students in the Los Angeles school district outperformed their peers at traditional public schools on standardized tests. The analysis showed, however, that charter students did not perform as well as the district's magnet-school students. Both magnet and charter schools saw higher test scores among black students.
