Educator uses Skype to create authentic language experience

Educators are increasingly experimenting with social media as a learning tool and as a venue for collaboration. One Marquette University professor uses the free online software Skype to allow her Spanish students to interact with their peers in South America via webcam, thus giving them one-on-one access to a free tutor. The professor said students were more motivated to learn the language by using Skype and continued to communicate with their South American counterparts through Facebook.
