Rising food prices pinch consumers

Consumers are feeling budget pressures despite low inflation numbers because of rising prices on what they buy most, particularly food and gas. Food and drink prices climbed 10.6% between 2006 and 2008, per U.S. Labor Department data, although they did undergo a reported half-percent net drop in the first 11 months of 2009.
