Soda fountains test positive for coliform bacteria

Nearly half of 90 soda fountains examined in a Virginia study were found to contain coliform bacteria, indicating possible fecal contamination. The results suggest "pathogenic strains of bacteria could persist and thrive in soda fountain machines if introduced," say the authors.
