Cisco trims down its Catalyst Ethernet switch for a new series launch

Cisco is preparing to introduce two lines of compact Ethernet switches to fill what it sees as a void in the $1 billion market for smaller enterprise-class switching solutions. Cisco's C-Series comprises five new models of the Catalyst Ethernet switch. The products are designed to be deployed in "wiring-constrained networking environments," according to the company.
