Attorney: Allocation of environmental risks can benefit acquisitions

The probability of closing acquisition deals increases when environmental risks are identified, mitigated and allocated, attorney Lisa Montgomery Shelton writes. The American Society for Testing Materials Phase I is the primary means for identifying such risks, but has limits, she writes. Overall, environmental risks and liabilities "do not necessarily present a deal breaker," she writes.
