How will computers be used in new common assessments?

Two groups of states working to design tests that students will take under the Common Core State Standards favor using computers to assess students' understanding. Preliminary plans call for an overhaul of testing nationwide, though the proposal could change before the standards are implemented in 2014-15. "This stuff is a very big deal, and it's a huge departure from the kinds of tests most kids currently take," said Chuck Pack, an adviser for the new assessments.
