Amazon chief Jeff Bezos is focused not on profit but on winning market share, even if that means slashing prices and offering expensive freebies. The jury's still out on whether that's a solid long-term strategy, but for now, it's working wonders. "As long as consumers are consuming and shareholders are buying what Bezos is selling, Amazon looks fairly unbeatable," write Brad Stone and Jim Aley.
