Fabless firms grew 6% in 2012 as global IC industry shrank

Fabless semiconductor companies enjoyed 6% growth in 2012 while integrated device manufacturers saw their revenue drop by 4% and the worldwide semiconductor industry fell by 2% compared with 2011, David Manners writes. Since 1999, the semiconductor industry has grown at a compound annual growth rate of 5%, although fabless IC firms posted a CAGR of 16% in that period.
