Micron offers SSD priced at 60 cents per gigabyte

Micron Technology has introduced the Crucial M500 solid-state drive, which can store nearly 1 terabyte of data and is priced at $599. Competing SSDs sold by Intel, Samsung Electronics and other vendors are generally more expensive, Lucas Mearian notes in this analysis. "It is an aggressive introduction for a high-density SSD, where per-gigabyte pricing is still over $1/GB," IHS analyst Ryan Chien said.
