Airlines hang on to turboprops to save fuel

Airlines were once eager to replace noisy turboprops with regional jets. Now they are slowing the retirement of these planes because the aircraft help save fuel, USA TODAY reports. Continental Airlines has boosted turboprop flying, and United Airlines and Northwest Airlines have slowed retirements. Turboprop lessor Saab U.S. has seen a slight increase in business.
