Kan. heating equipment maker to cut jobs on housing slowdown

The Wichita, Kan., plant of Johnson Controls, a based maker of heating and cooling equipment, has become the latest victim of the national housing slump. The group is offering a voluntary resignation program to salaried workers, according to company president Tom Huntington. "The residential housing slump continues to deteriorate and the leading indicators reflect that a turnaround will not occur until late 2008 or early 2009," Huntington wrote in an e-mail.
