Black & Decker announces plans to cut 125 positions

Black & Decker has announced plans to lay off 125 employees and restructure its power-tools business. The Md.-based manufacturer said the majority of the employees laid off will be from the sales area. "The economy is in a downturn, particularly in our sectors, so we want to make sure we're at the right size for our operations," said Roger Young, vice president of investor and media relations for Black & Decker.
