New Washington state standards could make science class more fun

A proposed change to Washington's science standards includes covering fewer topics each school year, but providing a deeper understanding of those concepts. Lawmakers will decide whether to make the change, which would be the first since 2003, in response to a low pass rate on the state's science assessment in 2008.
