AAR: Railroad volumes slipped in final week of 2009

U.S. railroad carloads slipped 1.5% from year-ago levels in the week ended Jan. 2 to 227,327, according to the Association of American Railroads. Intermodal volume ticked 1.8% higher to 149,128 loads. Total carloads in 2009 were down 16.1% vs. the prior year.
