FDG PET can determine breast cancer patients not responding to chemo

In an Italian study, 18F-FDG PET scans used to monitor patients with estrogen receptor-positive breast cancer tumors showed that 30% of the participants were unresponsive to preoperative chemotherapy. The standardized uptake value threshold needed to determine pathologic response was 50% after the second cycle of treatment, the researchers said.
