New water rules could deep-six suburban lawns

The San Francisco suburbs are about to get a lot less lush, residents say, as new rules governing the size of homeowners' lawns come into effect. The new rules, intended to conserve the city's dwindling water supply, cap new lawns at 500 square feet. Other ordinances seek to limit the amount of water that can be used to maintain existing lawns.
