Price tag for Maine bridge repairs: $1.4B

Officials in Maine say routine maintenance for the state's bridges will cost $1.4 billion over the next decade. Officials said the repairs are essential to prevent structural failures like that of a Minnesota interstate bridge in 2007. "Bridges ... are kind of like the offensive line of a football team: They're forgotten about until a penalty is called," said Bruce Van Note of the state's transportation department.
