"Romantic" student arrested in EWR security breach

Police in New Jersey arrested a 28-year-graduate student Friday evening in connection with last week's security breach that shut down Newark Liberty International Airport. Friends say Haisong Jiang was merely trying to see his girlfriend one more time when he slipped past security at Terminal C to enter the airport's sterile area without a boarding pass. The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey said Jiang would be charged with defiant trespass, a misdemeanor offense, eliciting a protest from Sen. Frank Lautenberg, D-N.J., who argued the maximum penalty of 30 days in jail "would not discourage people who want to break through the perimeter."
