$2.5B in EHR incentive payments issued in 2011, CMS says

CMS official Robert Tagalicod announced that 176,000 providers signed up for the Medicaid and Medicare electronic health record incentive programs last year. More than $2.5 billion in EHR payments were made to eligible hospitals and doctors in 2011, with steep growth figures seen in December. The CMS has set up a website to monitor and analyze data on the incentive programs.
