Amtrak plans to spend millions to upgrade infrastructure

Amtrak has announced major projects planned for 2012 that include building new stations and upgrading tracks to enhance reliability and increase train speeds. The rail company will also spend $15 million to study the feasibility of building a second Hudson River tunnel. It will also build new electric locomotives.
