Discarded fishing line threatens dolphin safety

Fishing line entanglements have threatened marine life in Southeast Florida for many years, killing one dolphin who was entrapped eight times between 2008 and 2011 and leading to loss of limbs in animals such as turtles and manatees. Recently, veterinarians were part of an effort to release a one-year-old male bottlenose dolphin from fishing line entwined around his neck that was cutting into his pectoral fin.
