FDA hints at legal action against states defying drug import ban

The FDA commissioner said in an interview his agency is not ruling out legal action if New Hampshire, Boston and other states and cities defy the federal ban on importing pharmaceuticals from Canada or other countries. Mark McClellan said the FDA already has convinced many states to not start such import programs, adding there are better ways to cut prescription drug costs, such as buying generic versions.
