High schools fail to sustain elementary students' progress, newspaper finds

A months-long investigation by The Oregonian of the steep academic decline of older students concludes that the century-old model of high schools is broken. Through interviews and observation the newspaper finds that few high schools are able to foster meaningful student-teacher relationships or show students the relevancy of their lessons.
