Historic San Francisco fort to become eco-hotel

Developers plan to spend $95 million to transform the historic Fort Baker U.S. Army base at the foot of San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge, into an eco-friendly lodge and an environmental think-tank. The project, known as Cavallo Point, The Lodge at the Golden Gate, will include 142 rooms, an 8,000-square-foot spa and an upscale restaurant, and the U.S. government plans to spend an additional $23 million to improve the site and its habitat.
