Education reforms in France spark protest from teachers

Teachers unions in France protested recently against President Nicolas Sarkozy's education reforms that include cost-cutting measures and high-school curriculum changes expected to be implemented by 2010. Teachers threw objects at police, including shoes, during the protest, causing police to retaliate with tear gas.
