Kohler may cut positions or shorten workweeks

Kohler Co. may institute shorter workweeks or lay off more personnel by the end of the month, according to a union official. The Wisconsin company is considering having employees work 32-hour weeks to offset a drop in demand caused by the housing slump. The company will also shut down its engine plant for five days this month.
