Monitoring telecommuters can lead to problems

Businesses that monitor people who work at home can get into legal trouble if the methods they use are too intrusive or effectively turn contractors into employees. A company can achieve some protection by restricting telecommuting to only those people who need to work at home and by asking them to sign a form acknowledging they understand how they are being monitored.
