Obama moves brighten LGBT mood

President-elect Barack Obama has sent several positive signals of his commitment to LGBT equality in the aftermath of his decision to have evangelical pastor and marriage-rights opponent Rick Warren give the invocation at his Jan. 20 swearing-in ceremony. Among them are the choice of out Episcopal Bishop Gene Robinson to give the invocation for the first inaugural event on Sunday, the naming of out appointee Nancy Sutley to a key environmental post and the inclusion of a lesbian couple in a pre-inaugural train trip. The Gay Men's Chorus of Washington also is scheduled to perform at Sunday's event at the Lincoln Memorial.
