Resource, airline stocks pull down Asian markets

A series of bad economic news weighed on investor confidence, causing Asian markets to suffer today. Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index dropped 2.8%, Australia's S&P/ASX 200 gave up 1.4% and South Korea's Kospi fell 2.1%. Taiwan's Taiex slid 0.3%, New Zealand's NZX 50 Index climbed 0.4% and India's Sensex lost 2.6%. Singapore's Straits Times Index lost 1%, and China's Shanghai Composite slipped 0.2%. Markets in Japan were closed for a holiday.
