Top LGBT-rights lawyer offers take on marriage-ban challenge

Shannon Minter of the National Center for Lesbian Rights offers this first entry in a planned series of daily commentaries on the Proposition 8 trial. Of special interest to Minter were questions by U.S. Judge Vaughn Walker about what he might do if he rules against the ban. "Will he have to order the state to issue marriage licenses to all couples, or could he leave it up to the state to decide whether it wants to let same-sex couples marry or just stop issuing marriage licenses to anyone?" Minter writes.
