Bill gives go-ahead to Javits Center expansion

A mega-project to expand New York's Jacob Javits Convention Center is set for groundbreaking this spring, now that New York Gov. George Pataki has signed a bill approving the project. The bill serves to separate the Javits Center project from its controversial association with an adjacent New York Jets/Olympic Stadium complex, which is facing strong opposition.
