New Jersey makes actual dissection optional

A new measure signed into law last week gives New Jersey students the option to refuse dissecting actual animals, although schools must offer alternative education through virtual dissection programs or other methods. One high school science department head says that while Web sites such as Froguts offer realistic pictures and simulations, students hoping to eventually work in the field of science must experience the real thing.
