Arbitration continues over aborted MAPLE reactor project

Arbitration proceedings are ongoing between Atomic Energy of Canada and MDS Nordion over the cancellation of the MAPLE reactor project in May. The project, which is part of a contractual agreement signed by the two parties in 1996, would have replaced the NRU reactor and helped secure the world's long-term supply of medical isotopes. MDS Nordion wants AECL to comply with the terms of the agreement or to pay $1.6 billion in damages.
