Scotland steps up efforts to control superbugs

Health boards in Scotland will be required to provide regular updates on superbug infection rates and comparisons to regional and national targets on a hospital-by-hospital basis under the new rules introduced by Health Minister Nicola Sturgeon. The move is part of a broader strategy to improve hospital hygiene and control infections such as Clostridium difficile and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus.
